Meet Phoebe 🌸
Phoebe is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist, and trauma-informed therapist serving clients in Kyle, Austin, and virtually throughout Texas. She specializes in working with children, teens, adults, and families who are navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, and life transitions.
Her journey into counseling began in 2021 while living in Guatemala, where she worked at a domestic violence shelter for young women. This experience deepened her passion for community-based mental health and planted the seed for her dream of creating a practice rooted in connection, healing, and social justice.
Phoebe earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. She has clinical experience at the Austin State Hospital, where she worked closely with clients ranging in age from 9 to 75. Her work has included supporting individuals living with PTSD, depression, anxiety, gender identity concerns, neurodivergence, and complex trauma.
Phoebe’s approach is gentle, holistic, and grounded in models like Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, somatic practices, and nature-based healing. Whether through talk therapy or equine-assisted work, her goal is to help you build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and your nervous system- so you can move forward with greater clarity, connection, and ease.
Therapeutic Modalities I Work With
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a way of understanding the mind as made up of many different parts. Some of these parts formed in response to early pain, some have taken on protective roles, and others may carry shame and stay tucked away outside of our awareness. In IFS, I support you in getting to know and gently integrating these parts, helping them feel safe in the present. This approach creates space for compassion, clarity, and hope- for everything you’ve been through and for who you are right now.
Somatic Practices
You may have heard the phrase 'the body keeps the score' or that trauma lives in the body. Psychology continues to affirm that working with the body- rather than around it- is essential for healing trauma. Using Somatic Practices in therapy, I’ll support you in gently helping your body complete what it couldn’t at the time of the original traumatic experience. This work is slow, intentional, and always guided by your pace. We begin with mildly uncomfortable sensations and only move toward the deeper pain when you feel ready.
Psychodynamic Theory
Psychodynamic therapy is based on the idea that our present struggles are often shaped by past experiences-especially the ones we may not fully remember or understand. In this approach, we explore the deeper layers of your inner world: your relationships, patterns, and unconscious beliefs. Together, we look at how old patterns may still be playing out today, so you can begin to choose new ways of being. This kind of therapy can bring a deeper sense of self-understanding and emotional freedom.
Individual Counseling: Trauma Informed Care
My Approach
My work is rooted in the mind-body connection and a holistic view of healing-but more than anything, my approach is tailored to you. Every person comes to therapy with a different story.
You might be coming to therapy feeling broken, hoping it will “fix” you. But you’re not broken. You are who you are because of what you’ve been through-not in spite of it. Therapy isn’t about fixing- it’s about growing, expanding, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have been lost or pushed aside.
We all develop ways of coping that once protected us, even if they’re no longer working. In our work together, I draw from Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Somatic practices to gently explore those protective parts and help you build a deeper connection with your whole self.
Mind-Body Connection
The connection between the mind and body is a central part of how I work as a therapist. When we explore parts of ourselves-especially the younger, more vulnerable parts-it’s important to have a sense of safety in your body. Without that foundation, deeper emotional work can feel overwhelming or even out of reach.
For many people who have experienced trauma, feeling safe in your body might not come naturally. Trauma can create a disconnect between the mind and body-a kind of protective separation.
In our work together, we gently rebuild that connection. I bring a holistic approach that honors your mind, body, and spirit. Healing doesn’t mean pushing through pain-it means moving through it in a way that helps it release, rather than getting stuck in another part of your life or your body.
Who I work with
Life is too short to spend feeling disconnected from yourself or stuck in painful relationships. I work with clients who are navigating trauma, attachment wounds, and the challenges of identity and belonging in a world that feels increasingly isolating. Together, we’ll explore how your nervous system and trauma responses are working to protect you- and how, with this understanding, you can start to break free from patterns that no longer serve you. My hope is to help you build a stronger, more vibrant relationship with yourself, make your nervous system your friend, and support you in stepping into a more joyful, connected life.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
What is Equine Therapy?
Equine Therapy is a research-based approach to healing that involves the principles of trust, respect, and boundaries not just with a horse- but with yourself. In this work, I will guide you as you build a relationship with a horse as part of the therapeutic process. Riding is not necessary for this work, though it can be a part of it eventually. The focus is on presence, trust, communication, and clear boundaries.
Horses are deeply intuitive and live fully in the present moment. They naturally respond to what we’re feeling beneath the surface, often reflecting emotions we may not have words for yet. This creates a powerful opportunity to explore patterns of connection, safety, and self-awareness in a nonjudgmental, low pressure space.
Why Horses?
Horses are powerful partners in the healing process because they respond to us with honesty, sensitivity, and presence. As prey animals, horses are biologically wired to be highly attuned to the emotions and body language of those around them. Their limbic systems—the part of the brain that processes emotions—are deeply connected to ours, allowing them to sense even subtle shifts in our inner world. I’ve always admired the ways that horses see through us to who we really are. You can lie to me, you can lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to a horse!
Unlike humans, horses don't judge, diagnose, or expect us to be anything other than who we are in the moment. They offer real-time, authentic feedback about how we show up emotionally and relationally, creating space for greater self-awareness, trust, and connection.
In the presence of a horse, it often becomes easier to access parts of ourselves that feel hidden, disconnected, or guarded. Through this authentic relationship, we can begin to rebuild safety within ourselves, and with the world around us.
How do I know if Equine Therapy would be a good fit for me, or my child?
For You: Equine Therapy may be a good fit if traditional talk therapy hasn’t felt like the right approach, or if you’re looking for a healing experience that feels more connected, embodied, and relational. You might find yourself drawn to working with horses if you struggle with feeling stuck, overwhelmed, struggling with setting and maintaining clear boundaries, or if you're seeking a different way to build trust, regulate emotions, and deepen self-awareness.
For Your Child: Equine Therapy can be a powerful support for children and teens who have a hard time expressing themselves with words, struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, or navigating big life transitions. Working with horses offers a safe, nonjudgmental space where your child can build confidence, trust, and emotional awareness through experience rather than pressure.
No horse experience is necessary- just curiosity, and openness.
Family Therapy
My Approach to Family Therapy
Going to family therapy is a powerful step toward bringing more harmony, connection, and warmth into your life. I work from a trauma-informed approach, helping families understand the emotional patterns, communication styles, and attachment needs that shape their relationships. I mainly use Internal Family Systems (IFS), which means we’ll explore the different “parts” each person carries and how they interact within the family. Healing often means learning new ways to listen to each other, respond with more understanding, and build trust over time. My intention is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where real conversations can happen—and where families can experience new ways of connecting that feel more supportive, respectful, and lasting.
Who I Work With
I work with families of all types, including parents and teens, adult children and parents, and blended families, who are facing challenges like emotional disconnection, life changes, setting healthy boundaries, and recovering from trauma. Whether you're looking to heal past wounds, improve communication, or simply strengthen your bond, family therapy offers a supportive space where everyone can feel heard, understood, and valued. Together, we'll work toward creating stronger connections and healthier relationships within your family.
